JUST ANNOUNCED! ALL FUNDS RAISED at this event WILL BE MATCHED!
Open Arms has secured $7.7 million of an $8.1 million campaign
goal for a new building and programmatic expansion. They must
raise these remaining dollars by December 31, 2009 to receive
$1.2 million in challenge grants. Wonderfully, all funds raised
at Butterball will qualify for these challenge grants ... so,
your donation will be doubled!
Open Arms offers
a unique model of care for people in our community who are sick,
hungry, and have nowhere else to turn for help. Since their founding
in 1986, Open Arms has brought compassion, dignity, and hope
to people living with HIV/AIDS by preparing nutritious meals
and delivering those meals to our clients’ doors. In recent years,
they’ve expanded to include women undergoing treatment for breast
cancer and individuals living with Lou Gehrig’s disease, multiple
sclerosis, and other serious and life-threatening illnesses.
In 2008, Open Arms prepared and delivered its 1.5 millionth meal.
By March of 2010, they will open their arms wider and begin
operating out of their newly constructed building, which will
enable them to expand their program to ensure that NO ONE with
a chronic or progressive disease in our community will go hungry.
In 2007, Open Arms was overwhelmed to receive $80,000 from Butterball
proceeds. Open Arms is appreciative for the continued support
from the Butterball hosts, guests and sponsors, as these proceeds
support our programs and make a direct impact on the quality
of life for those living with illness in the Twin Cities
